Preparing Young Minds To Thrive
Welcome to
JS tutoring
With over 12 years of teaching experience in both private and state schools, I have had the pleasure of guiding students through various subjects across the curriculum.
My passion for education has driven me to specialize in preparing children for key assessments, including the 11+ and SATs. For Lower and Upper KS2 children. I focus on teaching techniques that not only enhance understanding but also build confidence in essential skills such as Maths, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal reasoning, and Comprehension.
I have supported children through their 11+ for several years while teaching and then worked full-time with Mrs. Heaton at Eccleshall Education Hub, where I have honed my skills. It has been incredibly rewarding to help students achieve their academic goals and develop a love for learning.
If you're looking for a supportive and effective tutor, I would be thrilled to help your child succeed. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
Explore what we offer
We’re excited to offer a comprehensive program designed to prepare young learners for the Grammar school 11+ exam.
Our engaging lessons cover essential subjects, including Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-verbal Reasoning.
Throughout the course, we’ll explore techniques for tackling all 30 different types of questions on the 11+ exam, alongside an extensive variety of non-verbal reasoning challenges.
In addition to exam preparation, we’ll focus on building the foundational skills necessary for success in Year 4 English and Maths.
Rest assured, all supplies will be provided for the lessons—your child will only need to bring a water bottle.
Starting early is key, and we are committed to giving your child the best possible chance to reach their full potential.
Year 4
11+ Foundation course
Year 5
11+ Further course
As we approach a year until the majority of Grammar school exams, we’re excited to dive deeper into the effective techniques essential for the 11+ exams while building vital skills.
Our focus will first be on establishing a strong foundation, followed by engaging weekly practice tests that cover one of the four key areas of the 11+.
These practice assessments will be gradually combined to enhance proficiency in English, Verbal Reasoning, Maths, and Non-Verbal Reasoning, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the material.
As the year progresses, our assessments will evolve to closely mimic the style of the actual 11+ examinations, preparing your child for success.
In the final three months leading up to the Grammar School exam, students will have the opportunity to participate in mock exams. Please note that while these are organized by our team, the mock exams will be conducted in a separate hall, providing a more realistic experience of the final exam setting.
Year 6
SATs and Secondary Preparation
To help your child succeed in their Year 6 SATs, we use targeted tuition focusing on all elements of the maths and English examinations.
This initially begins with building a solid foundation of understanding of the key elements of the KS2 curriculum. As we progress through the skills development, building your child’s confidence in Arithmetic, Maths Reasoning, Comprehension, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation; ensuring they're well-prepared for their exams and beyond.
To succeed in the Year 6 SATs, we aim on building a strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum, practice regularly, and address areas of development, while also emphasising good study habits and a positive attitude.
Alongside the preparation for end of KS2 examinations we also explore a wide variety of knowledge required for a smooth transition into Year 7 and the beginning of your child’s high school journey.
Starting high school can be a daunting experience for many children, and it’s completely normal for them to feel a bit nervous about the demands of Year 7 and 8.
Our Early KS3 Tuition is designed to provide a smooth transition into secondary school by building your child's confidence and offering targeted support in English, Maths, and Science.
We understand that every child is unique, which is why our sessions are tailored to their individual needs. We strive to familiarise them with the expectations of the curriculum and align our teaching with their school’s scheme of work whenever possible.
Our small group sessions are not only educational but also fun! We aim to take the anxiety out of secondary school life, making learning an enjoyable experience.
If needed, we also offer preparation for upcoming tests, exams, or even grammar school admission tests to ensure your child feels fully equipped.
